Custom AI Assistants
Create your own editors, research partners, and writing coaches from Workspace Settings → AI assistants, then select them in AI Chat. Available with Pro and AppSumo Tier 4.
- Choose the model and thinking level, where supported.
- Set the assistant’s instructions and language.
- Add project context and choose Workspace, Research, and Mythos searches.
- Start from templates for editing, continuity, research, SEO, and publishing, or create your own configuration.
Your instructions become part of the system prompt, defining how the AI should act. They are included with every message while the assistant is selected, keeping its role and rules present throughout the conversation.
Prompt preview shows Scribeist’s underlying instructions alongside your own and the added context. Review what you are supplying before using the assistant, with a word count to help judge input size and likely token usage.

AppSumo Tier 4
AppSumo Tier 4 includes:
- Custom AI Assistants.
- 10,000 monthly AI credits.
- Optional Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) access to use connected AI providers.

Your monthly credits continue to renew while BYOK is enabled. Switch BYOK off to use Scribeist-managed AI with your credit allowance.
Scene Breaks
Mark a change in time, place, or viewpoint with a centered scene break inside your document.
- Open the editor’s
/menu → Scene Break and choose from 10 styles. - Use simple asterisks, dots, or diamonds, or choose a decorative flourish such as a flowering vine or leaf sprigs.
- Click an existing scene break to reopen the style library and change its design.
