How to move documents

You can move documents using drag-and-drop or the right-click menu.

Drag and drop

To move a document: Click and hold the document → Drag to new location → Drop

What you can move:

  • Documents into folders
  • Documents between sections
  • Documents to reorder them
  • Folders (with all contents) to new locations
  • Folder and document children inside sections

What you cannot move:

  • Sections themselves (sections are fixed at root level)
  • Documents or folders between workspaces

Moving between board tabs

To move a document to a different board tab: Right-click document → "Move to" → Choose destination board tab

What happens:

  • Document moves to the root level of the destination tab
  • Content, formatting, and version history are preserved
  • Folder structure is not preserved (reorganize manually in destination)

Example: Move a planning document from Planning tab to Manuscript tab

Moving folders

Drag and drop folders to move them along with all of their contents. Nested folder structures are preserved.

Folders (and everything inside them) can also be moved to another board tab using the same method as documents. The folder hierarchy will remain intact after moving.

Right-click folder → "Move to" → Choose destination board tab

Moving between workspaces

Documents cannot be moved between workspaces. To transfer content:

  • Export the document from the source workspace
  • Import into the destination workspace
  • Or copy/paste content manually
