Creating your first workspace
Once you've verified your email and logged in, you'll be taken to your workspace dashboard to create your first workspace.
Your workspace dashboard is where all of your workspaces can be viewed.
1. Click "Create Workspace"
You'll see three workspace types to choose from:
- Blog - For articles, blog posts, and SEO-optimized content
- Novel - For long-form creative writing with character tracking and story planning
- General - For notes, drafts, and freeform writing
2. Choose your workspace type
Select the type that matches what you want to write. Don't worry—you can create workspaces of different types later. Your plan determines how many total workspaces you can create, but all three types are always available.
3. Name your workspace
Give your workspace a descriptive name (e.g., "My First Novel," "Marketing Blog," or "Daily Notes").
4. Choose your typeface
Select a font that fits your writing style. Popular options include serif fonts for novels and sans-serif for modern blog posts.
Note
You can change this anytime in workspace settings.
5. Add author details (optional)
- Author/Pen Name - Your byline for this workspace
- Workspace Description - A brief summary (e.g., "A romance novel about star-crossed lovers")
These fields are optional but recommended for Novel workspaces—they're used as metadata when exporting to EPUB and other formats. They also appear when you share your workspace publicly. Leave them blank if you prefer to keep this information private.
Note
You can update or remove these anytime in workspace settings.
6. Start writing
That's it! The editor will open with a brief walkthrough to help you get familiar with your workspace. You can skip the walkthrough if you prefer to dive straight in.
