What is the AI Writing Assistant?
The AI Writing Assistant helps you improve specific sections of your writing. Select any text and use AI to rewrite, expand, shorten, change tone, or enhance with sensory details.

Uses AI credits - Each interaction consumes credits from your monthly allowance.
How to use it
- Select the text you want to improve
- Click an AI action button (appears in the text selection toolbar)
- View results in the AI Sidebar (Responses tab)
- Insert, replace, or copy the response
Available actions:
Rewrite
AI rewrites your text while maintaining the same meaning.
Use for: Awkward phrasing, fresh perspective, alternative wording
Expand
Add more detail and depth to your writing.
Use for: Brief paragraphs, more description, elaborating on ideas
Typically 1.5-2x longer than the original.
Shorten
Condense text while keeping the core message.
Use for: Wordy text, word count limits, more concise writing
Typically 40-50% of original length.
Change Tone
Adjust the emotional tone or formality of your writing.
Available tones: Professional, Casual, Friendly, Formal, Humorous, Dramatic, Neutral
Use for: Matching audience expectations, adjusting formality, experimenting with voice
Enhance with Senses
Add sensory details to make writing more vivid and immersive.
Available options: Sight, Sound, Touch, Taste, Smell, or ALL Senses
Use for: Flat descriptions, immersive scenes, vivid imagery
ALL Senses preview
When using "ALL Senses," you get a before/after comparison:
- Green highlights - New additions
- Red highlights - Removed text
- Side-by-side view - Compare original and enhanced versions
- Accept or reject - Choose whether to use it
