What are board tabs?

Board tabs are the top-level categories in your workspace sidebar. They organize your documents by purpose—writing, planning, research, and entity tracking.

Board tabs by workspace

Novel workspace:

  • Manuscript - Your main writing area for chapters and scenes

  • Planning - Story structure, outlines, and planning templates

  • Research - Background research and reference materials

  • Characters - Mythos character entities and profiles

  • World Entities - Mythos locations, organizations, lore, items, and events

  • Timeline - Story event chronology with multiple visualization views

Blog workspace:

  • Files - Your main writing area for blog posts and articles

  • Planning - Content calendars, outlines, and editorial planning

  • Research - Background research and reference materials

General workspace:

  • Files - Your main writing area for documents and notes

  • Planning - Outlines, lists, and planning documents

  • Research - Background research and reference materials

Using board tabs

To switch tabs: Click any tab name in the left sidebar to view that category's contents.

What each tab contains:

  • Documents (writing files)
  • Folders (organizational structure)
  • Sections (visual separators)
  • Canvases

Entities tabs (Novel workspace only): Characters and World Entities tabs show Mythos entities instead of documents.

Timeline tab (Novel workspace only): The Timeline tab opens the Timeline Board — a dedicated chronology tool for building and managing your story's events. It supports five views: Timeline (master list), Chapters (events by chapter), Entities (per-character view), Tracks (swim lane), and Gantt (time-based chart). Events can be linked to manuscript chapters and Mythos entities.

Trash

Deleted documents, folders, and canvases are handled differently depending on your plan. On the Free plan, deletion is permanent. On Hobby and Pro plans, deleted items are soft-deleted and moved to the Trash tab, where they can be restored or permanently deleted.
