What you can import
Scribeist currently supports:
- Markdown files (.md)
- Plain text files (.txt)
- PDF documents (.pdf)
- Word documents (.docx)
- Google Drive / Google Docs integration
- Notion integration
Import limits
- Files per import: Up to 20 files at once
- File size limit: 5MB per file
- Total import size: 100MB per import session
How to import files
1. Start the import process
- Click Import from your dashboard (instead of "Create Workspace")
2. Select your files
- Click Choose files or drag and drop your .md, .txt, .pdf, or .docx files, or select an integration (Google Drive or Notion)
- You can select up to 20 files at once (5MB each)
- Review the file list to ensure all files are ready to import
3. Complete workspace setup
You'll be taken through the standard workspace creation steps:
- Choose your workspace type - Select Blog, Novel, or General based on your content
- Name your workspace - Give it a descriptive name
- Choose your typeface - Select a font that fits your writing style
- Add author details (optional) - Your byline and workspace description
4. Import and start writing
Click Create Workspace and your files will be imported. Once processing completes, you'll land in your new workspace with all imported files in the sidebar.
Importing into an existing workspace
Already have a workspace and want to add more files? You can import additional files at any time.
