BYOK and provider connections

AI by workspace type
AI behavior adapts based on workspace type:
Book workspace:
- Optimized for creative prose and storytelling
- Add AI-visible Mythos entities, manuscript documents, folders, or the full manuscript to AI Chat
- Search your manuscript, planning documents, and research when requested
Blog workspace:
- Optimized for clear, readable content
- SEO best practices built-in
- Blog generation feature
General workspace:
- General writing assistance
- Versatile responses
AI Chat remains a normal assistant in every workspace. It reads workspace material only when you add that context or explicitly turn on workspace Search.
Managed AI usage
The free trial and managed Hobby and Pro plans include Scribeist-managed AI usage. Normal subscription customers see the percentage of monthly usage remaining rather than an exact credit count.
Monthly subscribers renew their managed usage with their billing cycle. Annual subscribers renew on the first day of each calendar month. Pro includes 2.5× the managed usage of Hobby.
BYOK plans
If you are on a BYOK plan, Scribeist uses your connected provider instead of consuming Scribeist-managed AI usage for supported AI requests.
Supported providers include OpenRouter, OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic, Mistral, Ollama, and LM Studio.
You still need an active Scribeist subscription.
