Activating your license
Start from your AppSumo account and follow the activation link for Scribeist.
If you already have a Scribeist account, sign in during activation. If you are new to Scribeist, create an account when prompted. Your activation will continue after you sign in or finish creating the account.
Use the account you want to keep
An AppSumo license can be connected to one Scribeist account. Sign in to the correct account before completing activation.
After activation, your AppSumo tier becomes your active Scribeist plan and its features are available immediately.

All tiers include the editor, AI writing tools, AI Chat, research, planning, imports, exports, sharing, publishing, integrations, document history, Mythos, and the standard Site Board.
Monthly AI credits
AppSumo credits renew on the first day of each calendar month:
- Tier 1: 1,000 credits
- Tier 2: 2,500 credits
- Tier 3: 5,000 credits
- Tier 4: 10,000 credits
Unused monthly credits do not roll over. If your account has a legacy purchased balance, it remains separate from your AppSumo monthly allowance.
If your AppSumo tier changes during the month, Scribeist adjusts the monthly allowance for the new tier while preserving usage already made during that month. On the next monthly renewal, you receive the full allowance for your current tier.
BYOK on Tier 3 and Tier 4
Tier 3 and Tier 4 include an optional Bring Your Own Key mode.
- When BYOK is on, supported AI requests use your connected provider and do not use Scribeist credits.
- When BYOK is off, supported AI requests use Scribeist-managed models and your AppSumo credits.
- Your AppSumo credits still renew each month while BYOK is enabled.

Upgrades and downgrades
AppSumo tier changes are handled through AppSumo. Once the change reaches Scribeist, your features and monthly credit allowance update for the new tier.
A tier change does not require you to activate the license on another Scribeist account.
Stripe subscriptions and AppSumo
If you activate AppSumo while a paid Stripe subscription is still active, AppSumo becomes your Scribeist access plan. Scribeist will ask you to resolve the existing subscription so it does not renew unnecessarily.
Cancelling a Stripe subscription does not remove your active AppSumo access.
Deactivation and reactivation
If your AppSumo license is deactivated, its features and monthly credits are removed. If another paid Scribeist plan or an active trial remains on the account, access follows that plan; otherwise, the account moves to the Free plan.
Your documents and workspaces are not deleted when a license is deactivated.
If AppSumo later reactivates the same license, access is restored to the Scribeist account already connected to it.
Activation troubleshooting
The activation link is expired or incomplete
Return to your AppSumo account and start the Scribeist activation again.
The license is already activated
Sign in to the Scribeist account that originally activated it. A license cannot be moved to another account by reusing its activation link.
I activated the wrong account
Contact [email protected] and include the email addresses involved. Do not delete either account while the request is being reviewed.
