Export your work in multiple formats.

Export formats

Documents can be exported in the following formats:

  • TXT - Plain text, no formatting
  • MD - Markdown formatting preserved
  • PDF - Preserves formatting, not editable
  • DOCX - Editable in Microsoft Word
  • EPUB - E-book format with cover and metadata
  • Google Drive / Docs - Export directly to your Google account
  • Notion - Export directly to your Notion workspace

Exporting documents

To export: Click the three-dot menu → Export → Select documents → Choose format or destination → Download/Export

Export options:

  • Export documents as separate files
  • Combine multiple documents into one file (export order follows file tree hierarchy)
  • Use Formatting & preview for page setup, typography, spacing, headers, footers, and a live preview

Quick export options are also available from document and workspace menus when you do not need the full formatting screen.

Formatting and preview

The advanced export screen can preview selected documents as formatted pages before download. Depending on the format, you can configure:

  • Page size, orientation, and margins
  • Body font, font size, line spacing, and paragraph spacing
  • First-line indentation and whether documents begin on new pages
  • Page-number style, placement, and starting page
  • Header and footer text, workspace title, and author name
  • Ready-made manuscript, editing-draft, and readable-PDF presets

EPUB options

EPUB export has additional options:

  • Basic - Document content only
  • With title page - Includes title page with author name and workspace name
  • With cover and title page - Includes workspace cover image and title page

What gets exported

Included in all formats:

  • Text content and formatting (bold, italic, headings, lists)
  • Links

Footnotes and citations:

  • DOCX uses native Word footnotes
  • HTML and EPUB use linked notes
  • Markdown and plain text use format-appropriate numbered notes
  • Supported exports preserve linked citations and reference lists

Images:

  • Embedded in PDF, DOCX, and EPUB exports
  • Not included in TXT and MD exports

Not included in any format:

  • Canvases (export separately as PNG or JSON Canvas)
  • Version history
