What is the Timeline Board?
The Timeline Board is a dedicated planning tool in the Book Workspace that lets you build and manage chronology. You can create events, assign them to entities and chapters, and visualize them across multiple views.

Views
The Timeline Board provides several ways to explore the same events:

| Chapters | Events grouped by the manuscript chapter they're linked to |
| Entities | Filter down to a single character or entity's timeline |
Creating events
Click the + Add Event button (top right) to open the Create Event modal.
Each event can have:
- Title — the name of the event
- Description — a short summary of what happens
- Story date — place the event on your story calendar
- Start / End date — create an event that spans several days
- Linked chapter — attach the event to a manuscript document
- Entities and roles — link Mythos entities and describe their part in the event
- Color — a color accent for quick visual scanning
- Images — add visual references and choose a primary event image
Editing events
Inline editing: Click any event row to open its detail panel. Event details, dates, colors, chapters, entities, roles, and images can be updated there.
Reordering: Drag and drop events using the grip handle on the left side of each row to reorder them in the master list.
Color coding
Events can be assigned a color accent that appears as a left-side bar on each row. This is separate from entity colors — event colors are for timeline-level categorization (e.g., marking plot points, act breaks, or tension peaks).
Linking to chapters
Each event can be linked to a manuscript document (chapter). Linked events appear in the Chapters view grouped under their respective document.
Linking to entities
Attach Mythos entities to events so their individual timelines show every event in which they are involved. You can also create a linked timeline event directly from an event-type Mythos dossier.

Calendar and custom months
Events with dates appear in the Calendar view. Switch between month, week, and day layouts depending on how closely you want to inspect the chronology.
Your story does not need to use a real-world calendar. Calendar settings let you rename months, change their lengths, add months, remove months, and reorder them for a custom story world.
Events with both a start and end date appear across their full date range.
Using timeline events in Canvas
In a Book workspace Canvas, drag a Timeline event node onto the canvas and choose an existing event. This lets you place events beside notes, links, images, and Mythos entities.

Exporting
Click the Export button (top right, appears when events exist) to download your timeline as a Markdown file. The export includes event numbers, titles, story dates, linked characters, linked chapters, descriptions, and notes.
