Open the library
The Research board is available across workspace types. Its library keeps imported sources, notes attached to a source, standalone notes, and earlier AI-generated research in one place.
Use the search field to find items by title, author, type, tag, or attached note title. Filter the list to sources or notes, and sort by recent activity, date added, title, or author.
Add research
Open Add in the Research library and choose:
- New note — create a standalone note
- Upload files — add supported documents
- Add URL — add a public HTTPS webpage
- Add by identifier — import DOI or Zotero records
- Export library — download the source library as CSL JSON
File uploads support PDF, DOCX, Markdown, text, CSV, TSV, JSON, BibTeX, and RIS where applicable. Reference-only imports may contain metadata or an abstract without full text.
Read a source and take notes
Open a source to read its saved text alongside publication details and attached notes. You can create notes without leaving the source, edit citation details, and ask AI about the source.
Notes attached to a source can be expanded beneath it in the library. Standalone notes appear as their own rows.
Full-text availability
The Full text column indicates whether a source is ready to search, still being prepared, incomplete, or limited to an abstract or publication details. If preparation fails, open the source to try again.
Delete sources and notes
Select multiple library items to delete them together. When deleting a source with attached notes, choose whether those notes should also be deleted or kept as standalone notes.
Deletion is permanent.
Use research elsewhere
- In AI Chat, add an exact source or note with Add → Research.
- Turn on Search research to let Chat find relevant information in your library.
- Select research notes during Blog Generation to ground a draft in saved material.
- Use the editor's Cite control to insert linked citations and references.
